New Vet Center plans open house
The Grand Junction Vet Center will have a grand opening at 10 a.m. Wednesday at 2472 F Road, Suite 16. There will be a welcome-home tribute to veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan.
Guest speakers will include Dr. Michael Murphy, director of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Maj. Carrie Acree of the Colorado National Gurard and Donald Smith, regional director fo Readjustment Counseling Services.
There will be a ribbon-cutting, and tours of the new facility are available.

Sufi saint, healer will have service
Koinonia Church, 730 Road 25, will sponsor Sufi saint and healer Maulana Zainulabedin Kazmi at 7 o’clock tonight. Kazmi will offer physical, emotional and mental healing and spiritual guidance in the Sufi tradition using praise and chanting.
Take a small bottle of water or olive oil to be blessed for personal use. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Popish to receive bachelor’s degree
Trystan Bell Popish of Grand Junction will graduate with a bachelor of arts degree from St. John’s College.
Popish’s senior essay was titled, “Melancholy Amidst Folly: Examining the Character and the Role of Jacques within William Shakespeare’s As You Like It.”
