会议背景介绍：
Tianjin University, King's College London and the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) are to host the 2014IFToMM Workshop on
HMM (the History of Machines and Mechanism) in Tianjin during 5-6 July, 2014.
Prof. Jian S Dai and Prof. Tian Huang jointly serve as chairmen of the workshop.The five topics of this workshop include: 1) the historical
development of mechanism and machine theory; 2) the invention of ancient mechanisms and machines; 3) the links between classical
mechanisms and current mechanisms development;4) transformation of knowledge about mechanisms and machines; 5) the interactionof
machinery technology with society. We welcome papers, articles, and notes presented at the workshop.
The serial workshops on HMM were organised by the Permanent Commission for the History of Mechanism and Machine Science,
which was founded in 1973 and attached to the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science(IFToMM).
The workshops on HMM aim at international academic exchanges and discussions about the research on the history of mechanism and machines, as well as the related disciplinary history.
This workshop is followed by the third international workshop on Fundamental Issues and Future Research Directions for Parallel
Mechanisms and Manipulators during 7-8 July 2014 and by the third IFToMM Asian conferenceduring 9-10 July 2014 in Tianjin.
Tianjin is one of the four major metropolitan cities in China and is 30 minutes away from Beijing by a high-speed train link.It was the place that held the Eleventh IFToMM Congress in 2004 and Tianjin University is historically the first university in China.
