会议背景介绍:
On behalf of EAGE and of the ECMOR scientific committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 14th European Conference on the Mathematics of Oil Recovery - ECMOR XIV. The conference will be held from the 8th to the 11th of September 2014 in Catania, on the beautiful island of Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean and the southernmost and largest region of Italy. Its most prominent landmark is Mount Etna, which is at 3,320 m (10,890 ft) the tallest active volcano in Europe and one of the most active in the world.

As oil will continue to be the leading source of energy in transport and chemical sectors for several decades, more and more research is needed to develop innovative technologies that will extend the reserves including unconventional resources, increase oil and gas production, while preserving the environment, and managing risks. In response to global warming, CO2 sequestration must be thoroughly investigated. Mathematical and numerical modelling, multiphysics couplings, data assimilation, uncertainty and risk management, optimization and control, are crucial tools to face all these current and incoming challenges.

Every two years, the ECMOR conference gathers applied mathematicians and geosciences engineers from both Academia and Industry to focus on recent advances in geological and reservoir modelling. An important aspect of the conference is the interplay between modelling and data integration, as well as between theory and practice, where numerical computations play a central role.

We warmly invite you to submit an abstract in order to share your results and new ideas in these fields in the friendly and stimulating atmosphere of the ECMOR conference.

As was the case for ECMOR XIII, a call for extended versions of ECMOR proceedings will be sent after the conference for publication in a special issue of the journal Computational Geosciences.
