近日全球管理咨询公司麦肯锡的一份报告指出，如果中国不采取有效的节水技术和措施，中国在未来二十年将面临严重缺水问题。

　　在上面的报道中，water-intensive industrial sectors的意思是“耗水产业部门”，这些部门都属于water-intensive industry（耗水产业）。Intensive在这里的意思是“集中的，密集的”，例如我们所熟悉的labor-intensive industry（劳动密集型产业）、capital-intensive industry（资本密集型产业），还有technology-intensive industry（技术密集型产业）。Intensive还可以表示“集约经营的”，例如：intensive farming（集约农业）。

　　由于水资源分布不平衡，中国部分地区存在water deficit 或water shortage（缺水），在某些时候还会出现water scarcity（水荒），因此加强water conversation（节水）工作十分必要。除了可以采用water-saving technologies（节水技术）或water efficient technologies（高效用水技术）外，还可以build more sophisticated irrigation systems（更精密的灌溉系统）和reuse industrial water（实现工业用水再利用）等。
