New technologies for applying and manufacturing freeform optical surfaces, which take virtually any shape without requiring symmetry, are rapidly emerging to enable optical systems that could not be contemplated using traditional technologies. The ability to design, fabricate, measure, and align freeform surfaces is enabling significant optics industry advances, with no end in sight. New product solutions, instrumentation and devices are being enabled with freeform optics technology.
征文范围及要求: The Freeform Optics conference is a forum to discuss emerging concepts related to the manufacture or application of freeform optical surfaces. The challenges and benefits resulting from designing and building with freeform surfaces are topics of current interest. Technical papers are solicited on the following and related topics: mathematical and numerical descriptions of freeform optical surfaces optical systems capitalizing on freeform surfaces freeform applications in beam shaping illumination applications of freeform surfaces design techniques for applying freeform surfaces for imaging systems design of nonimaging systems that use freeform surfaces fabrication methods for freeform surfaces metrology of freeform surfaces coordinate measurement for freeform optical surfaces component considerations and tolerancing for freeform surfaces freeform system alignment methods unusual imaging with freeform surfaces material considerations in freeform optics.
We are also working to organize a roundtable discussion on “current capabilities and limitations for supplying freeform aspherics,” covering: diamond turning plastic molding glass molding.
Using examples that illustrate: metrics for cost and performance capabilities and limitations future predictions practical issues and lessons learned.
