The conference will highlight recent advances in the field and focus on work that might shape the next decade of research, against the 2013-2014 backdrop of numerous authoritative reviews of the science and the knowledge gaps that hamper progress to better protect the public and wildlife. We will feature a range of topics that address these knowledge gaps, including new insights into endocrine systems from invertebrates to humans, new information on exposures with a focus on mixtures and exposure routes, mechanisms of endocrine function and dysfunction, wildlife human connections and the importance of critical windows of exposure. Imperatively, there will also be contributions about new innovations in chemical and biological screening for endocrine disruption. The Conference will bring together internationally renowned scientists who are at the forefront of their field. The Conference will also provide opportunities for junior scientists and graduate students to present their work in poster format and exchange ideas with leaders in the field. Some poster presenters will be selected for short talks. The collegial atmosphere that has traditionally characterized the GRC on Environmental Endocrine Disruptors will provide the perfect setting for intellectual development and collegial discussions in the afternoons and evenings to further research in this field. This year, a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) will be held the day prior to the GRC, and we encourage applicants at the trainee level to apply to both meetings. The 2014 GRC will be a unique forum for learning about interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research in this area of growing importance. |
