European Journal Of Migration And Law |
The European Journal of Migration and Law is a quarterly journal on migration law and policy with specific emphasis on the European Union the Council of Europe and migration activities within the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. This journal differs from other migration journals by focusing on both the law and policy within the field of migration as opposed to examining immigration and migration policies from a wholly sociological perspective. This Journal is the initiative of the Centre for Migration Law of the University of Nijmegen in co-operation with the Brussels-based Migration Policy Group. The European Journal of Migration and Law provides an invaluable source of information and a platform for discussion for government and public officials academics lawyers and NGOs interested in migration issues in the European context. Devoted exclusively to migration law and policy the original research and analysis the Journal presents will emphasize the development of migration policies across Europe. Each issue will have a cross-disciplinary approach to migration and social issues such as access of migrants to social security and assistance benefits including socio-legal and meta-juridical perspectives. This journal will be of inestimable value to people working on policy issues and academics as well as lobbyists NGOs and policy makers. The information and articles will also be of interest to lawyers specialising in migration law who wish to keep abreast of developments at the European level. The journal provides six structured sections: Editorial: For the initial one or two years each issue will focus on a particular theme with a distinguished expert providing an in-depth and comprehensive analysis. This will introduce the subject area and provide a background to each issue under examination. News and information from the institutions: Regular correspondents from the European Commission the European Parliament the European Council and the Council of Europe will prepare an outline of activities over the preceding period with specific emphasis on the theme but also covering other relevant migration news. One institution will be featured in each issue with a summary of the activities of that institution pertaining to the theme in question. News and information from the non-governmental sector: The Migration Policy Group will prepare a summary of activities at the NGO level with specific reference to the theme of the issue. In-depth articles on each theme: These will be commissioned by the editorial board with a view to publishing interesting and relevant research on the theme. Legislation and recent cases: Where there have been recent proposals for legislation or adopted legislation full text will be included. A summary of recent decisions in the field of migration from the two supranational European Courts ? the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights ? will be included. Book reviews: Recent books on questions of immigration law and policy will be reviewed by experts in the field. |
