男，研究员/博士生导师，教育部跨世纪优秀人才，国务院特殊津贴获得者，现任北京大学公共卫生学院营养与食品卫生学系主任。
主要研究方向是营养与疾病，承担和主研的课题有：国家“973”项目2项，国家“863”项目2项，国家十五攻关项目1项，国家十一五支撑项目3项，国家重大科技专项课题1项，国家自然科学基金重点项目2项，国家自然科学基金面上项目11项，北京市自然科学基金项目4项，教育部高校博士点基金项目3项及其他项目约20项。
以通讯作者发表学术论文约300篇，其中SCI论文超过80篇；获得省部级科技奖励7项，其他科技奖励4项。
目前正在指导硕士研究生6名（已毕业25名）和博士研究生8名（已毕业30名）；已培养博士后6名。
主编《营养与食品卫生学》、《肽营养学》、《肽临床营养学》等专著共12册,主译专著1册。
