1988年获同济医科大学（现华中科技大学）医学硕士学位（卫生统计学），1998年获北京医科大学医学博士学位（流行病学）。
1992-1993年在澳大利亚悉尼大学研修围产流行病学,2001-2003年在美国哈佛大学研修营养流行病学。
现为北京大学公共卫生学院研究员、博士生导师（流行病与卫生统计学）,北京大学生育健康研究所副所长、卫生部生育健康重点实验室副主任。
主持过多项国内、国际课题，所主持课题侧重于人群队列研究和随机对照研究。开设《流行病学现场实验（随机对照试验）》研究生课程。
迄今发表SCI论文30余篇，国内核心期刊论文50余篇。兼《中国生育健康杂志》常务编委。
