个人简介
北京大学国际关系学院教授，法学博士。长期从事中国对外政策和对外关系、美国外交与中美关系等研究。曾应邀在美欧日多所大学、研究机构等做访问学者、高级研究员或兼职教授。出版中、英、日等文字专著多部，发表中、英、韩、日等文字的论文多篇，多次获优秀科研成果奖和优秀教学奖。代表作《从延安走向世界：中国共产党对外关系的起源》获《第七届中国图书奖》，英文版由美国Eastern Bridge出版公司出版。专著《冷战与新中国外交的缘起（1949-1955）》获选2011年《国家哲学社会科学成果文库》。主讲《中华人民共和国对外关系》、《中国外交决策研究》、《国际冷战史》等课程。
Professor in School of International Studies, Peking University, and received Ph.D. from People's University of China in 1988. Other appointment before that include: Senior Fellow and Chief of Division of American Diplomacy, Institute of American Studies, CASS from 1990 to 2000; Lecture and Director of Section of Chinese Foreign Relations, Department of CCP History, The People's University of China from 1985 to 1989.
As a scholar in the China foreign policy’s studies, Niu has visited some famous institute as Guest Senior Fellow in Nobel Institute, Norway February-June, 1997; Visiting Scholar, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars July-October, 1996; Visiting Scholar, Department of History and the Center of Asia Studies, Hong Kong University, Nov.1995-Jan.1996; Visiting Scholar, Department of History, The University of North Carolina 1992-1993; Visiting Scholar in , Institute of East Asian Studies, University of California, Berkeley March 1993.
The teaching courses in Peking University at present include Analysis of China’s Foreign Policies’ making, the Foreign Relations of Peoples’ Republic of China since 1949. His study is focused on the China’s foreign policy making since 1949, and the United States foreign policy and the Sino-US relationship.
As one of authors of Cambridge Cold War History his main English publications at recent include: From Yan’an to the World: The Origin and Development of Chinese Communist foreign Policy, (Norwalk: Eastbridge, 2004). Towards a History of Chinese Communist Foreign Relations(1920s-1960s), co-edited with Michael Hunt,( Washington, DC: Asia Program, Woodrew Wilson Center, 1995). The some of papers related to the issue as The Evolution of the United States Taiwan Policy and The US-Taiwan Relations: A Historical Surve, Studies for Three Military Decision Makings cross Taiwan Strait, and so on.
