长期从事有机高分子光电功能材料的设计合成、光电性能表征和器件研究(发光二极管、场效应晶体管、太阳能电池、传感器、非线性光学)。在Chemical Society Reviews, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Advanced Materials等国际期刊上发表SCI论文145篇,其中影响因子3以上的110多篇,影响因子5以上的70多篇,影响因子10以上的22篇。所发表论文被SCI引用5400多次,被Essential Science Indicators评为“Highly Cited Scientist” (top 1%),单篇引用超过100次的论文12篇,超过200次的论文7篇。20篇论文入选ESI高引用论文,4篇论文入选ESI热点论文,1篇论文入选2011年中国百篇最具影响国际学术论文。应邀为Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials等著名期刊撰写综述。应邀为Wiley(4)和科学出版社(4)撰写专著8章。研究成果被Chemical & Engineering News, MRS Bulletin, ACS Heart Cut, Materials Views,Materials Views China等评述。10篇论文被选为Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials等著名期刊的Cover。申请US, PCT, 中国发明专利18项,其中8项授权。
