Dr. Zhou has been in charge of several research projects supported by the UK Economic and Social Research Council, National Science Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education of China. He has three main research interests. The first one is on language processing, including visual and spoken language comprehension, speech production, and the development of reading abilities in normal and dyslexic children. The second line of research is on attention and executive functions of normal people and populations with specific impairments, like brain-damaged patients and children with attention deficit hyperactive disorder. The third line of research is on social neuroscience, particularly issues related to neuroeconomics. Currently Dr. Zhou is trying to combine behavioral and cognitive neuroscience methods, including neuropsychological tests and functional brain imaging, to investigate the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying language processing, executive control, and economic and social decision making.
