Annales Zoologici Fennici publishes original research reports, in-depth reviews, short communications and commentaries on different subjects from the realm of animal science. Although we also publish papers on specific topics (see the list below), our aim is to promote papers which, by using an integrative and cross-discipline approach, provide a picture of the past and present environment, and interactions amongst its components. This may be achieved by employing tools from different fields such as:
ecology, paleoecology and ecometrics*, paleontology (tertiary and quaternary) and evolution, conservation biology and wildlife management, animal behaviour and interactions (incl. animal societies and recognition systems), bioenergetics (energy flow through an ecosystem and its elements, carrying capacity), genetics and phylogenetics (selected topics only; please contact us for details). We also encourage submissions of articles on research methodology that present and/or discuss methods of data gathering and processing, the interpretation of results through statistical testing, and philosophical issues related to the natural sciences. Both theoretical and empirical works are warmly welcome. We, however, discourage submissions of purely descriptive works and manuscripts of restricted interest. |
