Cameras For Indian Remote Sensing Satellite IRS 1C
Indian Space Research Organisation has successfully developed and placed three operational Remote Sensing Satellites, IRS-1A, 1B and P2, in orbit. These satellites carry CCD cameras to image the earth from polar sun synchronous orbits at spatial resolutions of 72 and 36m and the data have been extensively used by a variety of user agencies in various programmes for national development. In order to expand and continue the operational services to the user community, ISRO has planned to launch the next generation of IRS Satellites - IRS-1C/1D. The IRS-1C/1D will carry three distinct and mutually complementary imaging payloads with significant improvements in spatial resolution, addition of a new spectral band in the short wave infra - red region capability for stereoscopic imaging and wide field of view coverage for better temporal resolution. This paper briefly surveys the design features of these three cameras.
Telemetry, Tracking and Command System for IRS 1C
The Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) system for IRS 1C derives its heritage from the proven system flown in earlier missions, but it caters to a much larger requirement of the IRS 1C mission. The system consists basically of the RF and baseband segments. The RF System is configured around the S- band Coherent Transponder. The baseband elements include the Telecommand and Telemetry Systems. This paper deals with the configuration, design and implementation of the TT&C system for IRS 1C.
