Chemistry Education Research and Practice (CERP) is a quarterly peer-reviewed open-access academic journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) for teachers, researchers, and other practitioners in chemistry education. The editor is Keith S Taber (University of Cambridge).
Publications policy
The journal publishes theoretical perspectives, critical reviews of literature, and empirical studies including systematic evaluations of innovative practice. CERP is a peer-reviewed research journal with established quality criteria.[1] It was originally published by the University of Ioannina, but switched to the Royal Society of Chemistry at the end of 2005 when it merged with University Chemistry Education.
Sponsorship by the RSC
The journal is able to be open-access, yet not have page or process charges levied against authors, due to sponsorship from the Education Division of the RSC. The RSC is a charity, as well as a learned society, and support for an open-access educational journal is seen as furthering its educational mission.
Advanced articles
Although articles are compiled into quarterly issues, including an annual theme issue, all accepted articles are published as advanced articles, often very soon after acceptance.
