FOUNDRIES OF THE KOLUBARA DISTRIC (VALJEVO) IN SERBIA DURING THE TRANSITION PERIOD
ABSTRACT This paper gives an overview of the companies in the field of casting during the period of the sanctions and the transition when the need for businesses in the area had a very specific form in the Kolubara District of Serbia. We also pointed out some characteristics of today's work in this area. Methodology for assessing the sites of these companies is also given and it is concluded that this method of presentation is at the fundamental level.
VISUALIZATION OF MATHEMATICS THROUGH INCORPORATION OF EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE INTO DISTANCE LEARNING
ABSTRACT An approach to the use of software for online learning of applied mathematics at engineering departments of universities, with a focus on metallurgy, is presented in the paper. The proposed solution is based on the visualization of fundamental mathematical concepts aimed at understanding and applying such concepts. The paper reflects research conducted with math teachers from engineering faculties.
SUITABILITY OF AIR-COOLED LEAD SLAG FOR VALORISATION
ABSTRACT This paper presents the results of the experimental determination of the chemical, physical, mechanical and geotechnical characteristics of the lead granulated slag resulting from the pyrometallurgical treatment of the lead-rich concentrates at SC ROMPLUMB SA Baia Mare company, in order to identify the possibilities of valorising this slag as a building materials for embankments, road foundations, base and sub-base layers. The oxide chemical composition of the granulated slag was determined by x-ray fluorescent spectometry, using a wave-dispersive x-ray fluorescence spectometer (WDXRF). The grain distribution obtained by sifting the slag was assessed in comparison with that of sand in order to classify the slag as a non-cohesive earth class, depending on the predominance of certain grain fractions, its non-uniformity and plasticity coefficients. The granulated slag's compaction characteristics were determined by normal and modified PROCTOR test, in order to assess the maximum dry density and volumic weight corresponding to the optimum dry and wet moisture content. The relative bearing capacity characteristics or the CBR index were determined by CBR testing. The permeability of the granulated slag was assessed by the variable gradient permeameter method The shear strength was determined by unconsolidated undrained (UU) direct shear test. |
