Report Server Access API
 
Elixir Report Server is shipped with a set of small but powerful Report Server Access APIs to allow report requests to be made programmatically.  You can build a reporting web portal with a Servlet Engine as well as integrate with JavaMailTM for mail delivery of reports.  You can also write a Java 2 based client application to generate reports through the APIs.
 
Report Request Controller
 
The Report Request Controller manages requests from external clients such as Java application or Servlets to dispatch report requests against the multiple rendering engines.  Where there are more requests than the number of concurrent engines, these requests would be queued.  All activities of the Report Server are logged by the Controller.
 
Workspace
Workspace allows different reports to be grouped under a logical set. For example, there could be a workspace for reports belonging to the Administration Department, another workspace for the Human Resource Department, and separate workspaces for each of the other departments.  In fact, multiple workspaces can be set up for each department.
 
Server Side Rendering Engine with Concurrency
 
The server side-rendering engine is tuned for high performance report rendering.  The rendering process runs as a background service and the reports generated can be output to the client or be cached on the server.  This highly scalable engine supports concurrency by invoking multiple rendering engines to generate reports concurrently.
 
Data Source Manager
 
The Data Source Manager provides the interfaces for Elixir Report to extract from external data sources like RDBMS (e.g.: Oracle?, IBM? DB2, Sybase?, Microsoft? SQL ServerTM, etc.), XML, LDAP, Java Objects and Text files. Other data sources can be customized to work with Elixir Report.
 
 
 

Deployment Environment
 
Elixir Report Server engine can be deployed through Servlets to application servers such as WebLogic?, Tomcat, iPlanetTM, WebSphere?, etc.

Multiple Deployment Modes
 
tJava application that uses the thin client viewer for previewing and printing of reports.
tWeb based application that uses Servlets to invoke the reports and stream back the content for online viewing in JGF (using Java Graphic Format lightweight viewer) or PDF formats.
tWeb based portal that allows on-demand batch generation of reports. These reports are cached and can be retrieved for later viewing or/and printing.
tCommand-line invocation for scheduling or batched report generation or/and printing.
 
 
LICENSING

Per Server-Instance License for Elixir Report Server Runtime:
The runtime licensing is based on per server runtime instance* for unlimited user connection and regardless of number of CPUs.  There are 2 options:
a)       Elixir Report Server Runtime- Dual-Engine
b)       Elixir Report Server Runtime- Multi-Engine
 
Support and Maintenance:
Elixir provides:
1)       Gold and Silver Priority Support to corporate customers, and
2)       Back-To-Back Priority Support for partners on per incident basis,
to facilitate high availability operations.
Free Version Upgrades are available through annual maintenance contract.
 

Development and Deployment Package:
A typical purchase package includes 2 Server run-time licenses: a Dual-Engine for the Development Staging Server and a Multi-Engine for the Deployment Server.
 
For Server-based Development, the Elixir Report Toolkit is required, and it is licensed on a per developer basis.
In addition, for Client-based Development, Elixir Report Professional and Elixir Report Standard Editions are available, licensed on a per developer basis.
 
 
OEM Licensing:
Specially tailored for OEM partners, OEM licensing provides significant cost-savings for incorporating high performance, scalable reporting capability into our partner's solution.  In addition, OEM partners can bundle our Report Designer to provide report creation and modification functions with their applications.
