I just had a talk with Ms. Xxx. She just came back from the Belgium Embassy and the Embassy did not accept the notarized document. They said the notarized document should be certified by China Foreign Ministry or Ministry and Belgium Embassy in China. I will give you price of the two steps within a few minutes.

Let's clarify the point first. As I understand it, a stand alone certification by China's Foreign Ministry is sufficient. Is that correct? One step is faster than two.

 

Secondly, the price is OK, although this has become the most expensive police clearance certificate in history....but is there anything that can be done on the timing?

Hello,Devin, I know we are only starting the third day of this process, but kindly keep me posted on any developments. The employee in the visa office of the Belgian Embassy is freaking out over this, and I need to manage that situation; also, they will not even touch Xinyi's file until they get the legalized certificate...thanks for your work on this, Devin.

I understand that you or someone else in your office just contacted Ms. Zhang. As I wrote you last week, we are pursuing legalization of the notarial certificate by China's Foreign Affairs Ministry. As you well know that process takes several days. As mentioned to you, once that process is completed, the documents will be hand delivered to you.

But I was clearly told by the notary's assistant who presented the documents to you that the notarial legalization was insufficient and that you needed the dual legalization. That is what we are pursuing currently.

Please contact me for further clarification or if your position is at variance with what was conveyed to me.

We are at day 8 from the documents being presented to the Foreign Affairs Ministry ( I know the indication was 7 to 10 days ).

 

Because of the timing implications of all of this, I am admittedly overly impatient, but a lot is riding on this process.

Is there any indication of whether we are about to get the legalized documents?
